An evenly matched series as each team won a close
game, and each team won in a blowout. In the end, the Cardinals scored
21 runs and the Pirates 20.
Willie
Stargell had a big series for Pittsburgh, going 7 for 12, driving in 7
runs. Enos Slaughter, after getting only one hit in the first two games,
went 3 for 4 in the final two including hitting his first home run of
the year.
The losses were the first two suffered by the Bucs, who have won six while St. Louis maintains it’s .500 record at 4-4.
