55 Pale Hose Dismantle 87 Bombers in 2 Games

Game #1 at Chicago
Walt Dropo banged out 3 hits and knocked 2 runs to lead Chicago to a 5-2 win. Connie Johnson (1-0) pitched 7 innings, yielding just 3 hits, for his first win of the season. Sandy Consuerga (1) got the save. Dave Winfield (6) saw one of his 3 hits leave the yard, as he lead the Bronx Bombers. Tommy John (1-3) was the starting and losing pitcher.



Game #2 at New York
The Pale Hose exploded for 7 runs in the 2nd and cruised to a 14-3 victory on the road. Jim Busby provided the biggest blow in the inning with a 2-run triple. He would finish with a game-high 3 hits and 4 RBI. Jack Harshman (2-0) benefited on the hill. Joe Niekro (1-1) took the brunt of the ChiSox 13-hit attack.


Game #3 at New York
 Bombers revenge! The Yanks explode for 5 in the 1st and 4 in the 8th in a 10-1 laugher. Mike Pagliarulo (2) led the way with 2 doubles, a HR and 3 RBI. Don Mattingly (1) and Gary Ward (3) also went yard. Ron Guidry (2-2) tossed 6 innings for the win. Charles Hudson (1) hurled the final 3, surrendering just 1 hit. Virgil Trucks (1-1) felt like he was run over by a Mack on mound.
